I could use some advice...

I've spent some time looking over the PayPal website.

It gave me a headache. Holy crap. Details. Details. Details.

I want to make it easy for folks to buy (read: spend money)
at the Pondering Store. I want to be able to set up a cart
system in case someone wants to buy more than one item
at a time. I'd like to be able to accept credit and debit
cards.

What I need from you folks is this...
are there other sites besides PayPal? Are they better?
Easy and simple is my goal here. If possible.

Anyone who has had experience with on-line selling,
please leave ideas and opinions in comments or send me
an email.

My head is spinning and not in a good way.
Remember, I am still a tech-tard.

As I recall it...when I set up my paypal account for eBay it took less than 10 minutes and still works 6 years later.

THAT is encouraging!

I did copious research for my art gallery and settled on PayPal. It's the cheapest and simplest way. Everyone else wants you to buy a card-swipe machine and hit you hard with processing fees.

If you want, I'd be glad to come down and help you set it up, and even set up an item web page for your desktop (it doesn't even have to be a published web page, but can work like a point of sale for your computer) and get you going.

However, it seems I may have landed a real job. A full-time, benefit-paying job! Either way, let me know. PayPal is the shizzle.

Joanie, YOU are the shizzle!
I will keep your offer in mind, for sure.

A real job?? Dayummmmm. Congrats!

I set up a Paypal account several years ago and have never had a problem with them. I can't remember what all I went through to set it up because it was so long ago, but it must have been easy because otherwise I wouldn't have done it. LOL
Paypal is VERY well known and respected. You can even print out your shipping labels with postage from them. Very easy. Just make sure your password is good and complicated...use caps, numbers and characters (@$%#, etc) in it. Makes it nearly impossible to hack. Good Luck on your venture. Thanks for visiting me...hope you'll be back!! (Boney is a hoot, isn't he?)

Oh, and after reading Val and what I have gone through, change your password and everything else you can change ever 3 months or so. I know, it's a pain, but the options can be worse. I would truly hate to see you ripped off or have your business compromised. It's the last thing you need.

Bane had paypal and Amazon options. Amazon was a big pain, they hold your funds for processing and charge higher fees. Paypal was never a hassle and a better deal, plus they used to give you a discount if you used them as a "point of purchase" card.

The web host I use has an eCommerce builder thingy if you're interested. You do it all yourself and it's quite easy.
It can use PayPal, shopping cart, foreign currency, all that shit.

Shoot me a note if you're interested in more...

I need to come over here more often!
Maybe learn how to start a business, too!

Val, welcome and thanks for your input! I will definitely be back to visit.

Doom, yeah, this is too important to be non-vigilant.

Scott...Monster, huh? I'll look.
Thanks.

Thanks, Kat. I remember Bane bitching about Amazon.
'point of purchase'...no clue.

Dave, I'll holler at ya soon. Thanks!

Berry, yes...you DO need to come over here more often ;-)
Although, with that big project in the works, I'll cut you some slack this time.
