At one time, TxDot planted wildflowers after a job was completed. Traveling through Houston in the Spring on IH10 would reveal acres of bluebonnets in bloom. That, and rural highway right-of-ways would be filled with brilliant colors from different wildflowers.
Now, you can still find rural highways have blooming wildflowers, but the cities are nothing but concrete and blight.

And the cities could use it. What a shame.
