Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs...

Dave got an e-mail from his friend, Pick, who is
serving in Afghanistan. It's a very good read.

Indeed, that was very well put. Thanks for sending it our way. It's a pity that people like the young lady the email was addressed to have been so brainwashed -- it reminds me of the story that I think Gary Aldrich told about Chelsea Clinton.

While Chelsea was a teenager in the Whitehouse, Aldrich (an FBI agent attached to the Whitehouse) overheard her calling her Secret Service detail, the men and women who were willing to take a bullet for her, "trained pigs". When Aldrich suggested that her parents wouldn't want to hear her refer to the agents that way, she replied, "That's what my mother calls them." Despicable.

God bless all the sheepdogs of the world.

Now how weird is that? I posted this link myself today. It was an excellent read.

And I just did the same thing. Thanks, Jean.

The trouble with that story is it simplifies life down into too few categories. It also doesn't aaddress the reasons why the girl actually was against honoring a soldier, but obfuscates it.

looking at "war" in binary terms is what gets humans into trouble.

This "sheepdog", I am sure, is guilty of violent excess at one time or another, I'd bet my stick on it.

Liked the epilogue, gal.

But, as a question floats to the surface that has nothin' t'do with m-guy......
Did y'all go to that bloggin' summit? Have y'posted a limerick on Auntie's blog, yet?

I don't think that particular missy will ever learn, until it is far too late. I've never understood why some sheep are that way until I realized there are wolves in the flock. As for me, I will probably not ever try to help most of them. The price is too dear and the gratitude too thin, especially in this college town. I am, however, glad there are others who will take up the cause. Still, if a wolf presents itself, it will see the flip side of wolf in sheeps clothing for it's remaining seconds. I'll never quite get rid of that hunger, and I've noticed they see it. Who woulda thunk wolves would show naked fear.

On a positive note, I have vanilla ice cream and some home-made rhubarb topping in the fridge.

Scott - have you info?

Berry - thank you, dear.
To answer both questions... no.
I forgot about the limerick, but will ponder...

Doom - So, you would still be there in time of need.
...and, the dessert sounds delicious! Mom used to grow rhubarb in her garden. Just thinking how I used to break off a stick and eat it raw, makes my mouth water in its sour memory... yum.

Jean,

That's a whole big can of maybe. I am not going down protecting one wolf from another and my criteria is sharp. One might even say absolute. I'd still gladly kill or die for the right ones and my nation though, if that's what you mean.

I almost wrote something harsh, but... bit my tongue. Not at you, mind you. I'm a bit finicky about sacrifice these days.
