Six Words Memoir Meme...

This meme originated at Smith Magazine and has now
reached my little blog world, thanks to Berry (Boneman).

The gist of it is... 1.) you're supposed to choose six words that
reflect your life. 2.) link back to the origin of the meme and to
the one that tagged you. 3.) add a photo for illustration, if desired.
4.) tag six more bloggers to participate.

The words I chose are not my own...

"Not all who wander are lost."

I knew the quote was from J.R.R. Tolkien, but I was curious about
the rest of the content. I found it here. It reads...

"All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost;
the old that is strong does not whither, deep roots are not reached
by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the
shadows shall spring; renewed shall be blade that was broken,
the crownless again shall be king."

...and, yes, I see that I am mis-quoting by one word. Too bad.
I still like it.

I am tagging Bane, Lee, Larry, Mick, HB, Joe.

Dang! Sounds like me!

You know I don't do this stuff, darlin. I maybe get tagged once a year by something that interests me, and I do it.

Alas, this one does not. Sorry.

oh, well... I knew better but thought I'd try. s'ok.

Berry, I have a silver bracelet with that quote engraved on it.

Gah. I'll try to come up with something before I take off again.

You know... that line could almost work for me, too!

(your memoir)

you can never go far wrong
quoting LOTR :)

You're a good sport, Joe. Save it for next weekend, if you need to.

/t... I am honored! And, slightly embarrassed because I haven't read his books, just bits and pieces.
Perhaps it is time.

I only read The Hobbit because of a promise of some real fine nookie if I did, and it still took me a couple of weeks and a couple of hundred pages that I struggled through, when she nagged. And then it began to pick up, and then I was hooked, and read all of the books in short order. I really enjoyed them. A lot.

Jean said...

heh... that would motivate me, too!
I'm making a run to B&N tonight. Might pick up some J.R.R.

Jean, if you get a chance, buy one of the really nice hardbound boxed sets. They are works of art. Some are even leather-bound.

Yes they are nice words and lovely to have them engraved on your silver bracelet.(I'm an antique rose-gold girl myself, though I do like silver, just thought I'd throw that in).The whole quote is beautiful.:)

boneman said...

I don't get it, Bane.
I mean, you almost did it when you wrote back....

"I read books to get nookie"

Six words....now all you need is a ppicture to go along with it.

boneman said...

that Dasher!...
Can't take him ANYWHERE!

I have posted mine over at Larry's.

I got lost about a third of the way into The Hobbit.

Never rfead the rest. I did, however, read the Harvard Lampoon's "Bored of the Rings".

I've always been one for a good parody, especially one with characters with names like Dildo Bugger.

Jean said...

'Dildo Bugger'.....BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Lee said...

Done, and done.

And just for the record, I cursed your name for being the first person to ever tag me.

Jean, I got the music from over at Lady Lux's place. It gives many choices of music styles.

Freebies are the way to go, I'm thinking.

How you like the monkies?
(seems they're ready for some monkey business....)

I've been kicked out of a couple places for taking Dasher there.
Dang! You'de think folks would be more tolerant of reality, eh?
In fact, I went and got that picture by Rembrandt just to show that it's an "artful" pose....

Ah well.
Nothing lasts forever, eh?

Jean said...

Thank you, Lee.
(virgin no more...heh)

Berry - sorry about your disconnects. Some people just don't like that kind of reality in front of their face. The monkeys are cute.

boneman said...

Hey, you think THAT'S cute, wait'll you see this bear when that bee hits!

Sweet girl, if you're gonna borrow someone else's words then go BIG. *g* And you did. Beautiful, strong, and well played.
