They're telling us...

to prepare for another blast of shit weather.
Monday and Tuesday will be warm enough to
melt some of what we have. Then Wednesday
and Thursday we get dumped on again with a
load of snow, rain and ice all at the same time.
Could last into Friday. The streets will suck.

So, Monday and Tuesday will be time to stock
up on food and lots of bags of salt and to shovel
as much of the remaining snow from driveways
and sidewalks that hasn't yet melted from two
weeks ago.

I made a giant cauldron of chili today. Probably
enough to last through Wednesday or Thursday.
We'll be fine with everything else we have on hand.
It's just getting really, really tiresome.

I know, my whining is just as tiresome. Too bad.

"They" said...

maybe a flake or two.
No more than a trace.
But, there are at least two inches on the porch right now. *sigh*

I know, I know. It's too soon to whine.
I'm doing it anyway.

ice, ice baby...

I think, maybe, sorta, that I'd rather have some
snow on the ground than the ice we woke to this
morning. (Here's hoping I didn't just jinx myself.)

At least you can see where the snow is. Ice is like
being blind. Took three attempts to get the car up
the driveway when we got back from the grocery. Yikes.
Even though it seems to be melting now, I still tossed
salt on the driveway and sidewalk 'cause I'm pretty
sure it will only get colder as the day moves into night.
Yesterday the icicles were melting while snow fell.
Ohio weather is schizophrenic.

Carol started her radiation treatments last Tuesday.
This afternoon will be treatment #18. They're zapping
her twice a day, five days a week.
She's handling it very well. Only a bit of itching across
the scar but otherwise, no redness, no swelling, no
drain on her energy. I rarely go with her since all I can
do is read the magazines in the waiting area. I make sure
dinner is ready when she gets home. The girl can eat.
And does.

I miss my life.
I miss Sparky.
I miss privacy.
I miss freedom.

Have I mentioned that I still have mood swings?

Baby, it's cold outside...

The blizzard missed us so all is not too terribly bad.
Six inches of snow, minor wind gusts. Pretty ho-hum until
I realized I had to shovel that white stuff off the drive-way
and the front stoop and sidewalk. Sister Ann helped.
We've gone through four bags of salt, so far. I love salt.
It means less shoveling.

Those whacko weather people are already twitching over
the next wave of weather they see that might bring more snow.
Who shovels the whacko weather people's driveways?
They spend all their time on TV screaming at us.

Next Thursday is Carol's surgery. Ann and I will take her and
stay through the evening, at least.
Carol has plans to go out New Year's Eve for dinner and a movie
with some lady friends from her church. I say woo-hoo!

Before all of that, Sunday is Ann's birthday.
I'm taking her out for dinner and maybe a movie. If'n she wants.
She probably will.

My friend Jan, in Florida, is probably wearing flannel shirts to
stay warm. It's 71 there. *sigh*
