Good read...

A good read for cold nights.

  1. The very first book I ever read that did not have pictures and gobbledy gook writing was a biography of Babe Ruth. Light work like this MM piece is good escapism especially when they do not try to change history.

  2. The author made a great effort to stay with the truth and avoided embellishing. Short and to the point.

I read a 1,000 page Ruth bio last year. Seems like the longer a personality has been dead, the longer the story. I guess the authors are aiming for extreme accuracy but sometimes all that itemized detail succeeds in giving me a headache and encouraging me to put the book down.

  3. I scored a bio of Mantle (Mantle the Last Boy) for free on my kindle a couple of years ago but did not read it yet.

    (Tony Castro)about Mantle.
