Unfortunately, because they are endangered, no one can touch them. That's why they ban swimming etc. when they are in the spring waters.Jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02099808690177823190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21084151.post-91720175574374958552011-12-18T08:31:39.576-05:002011-12-18T08:31:39.576-05:00I guess you can't go down the steps to pet the...I guess you can't go down the steps to pet them? Except, when the manatees are here from about November to April, then humans are not allowed in the water.
Manatees are not dangerous to humans but we are their only predator/danger. They are, indeed, endangered. Many, many of them have scars on their backs from boat propellers.

The pics of the manatees at the bottom of the steps are only a few feet away from people. I think it would be like swimming with dolphins, if we were allowed.

Read the link in the post below, it's fascinating.Jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02099808690177823190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21084151.post-8884407135777647172011-12-17T07:59:08.596-05:002011-12-17T07:59:08.596-05:00I don't think I'd be as concerned about sw...I don't think I'd be as concerned about swimming with the manatees as i would the gators.the walking manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10058913927297370740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21084151.post-67600867017927842892011-12-17T01:46:43.463-05:002011-12-17T01:46:43.463-05:00I've always wondered how... nice those creatur...I've always wondered how... nice those creatures are. Would they let us swim in their water? Not that I necessarily would, it would seem rude. But imagine if you didn't know, got in for a swim, and... *boo*

Are they endangered, seriously? They look so interesting, in any case. I wonder if they are just as curious about us?Doomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04392444624210801173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21084151.post-10551804513946133892011-12-16T22:29:01.094-05:002011-12-16T22:29:01.094-05:00it's great they survived the ever destructive ...it's great they survived the ever destructive nature of man.

thanx, gal, for sharing.bonemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10484125049735629611noreply@blogger.com
